Datapro Infoworld, involved in distribution of packaged software, slipped from the 20th rank in last year's Silver Club to 23rd this year. The company reported agency revenue of Rs 79 crore in 2000-01 compared to Rs 58 crore in the previous fiscal.
This is a growth of just 36 percent. Last year the company's agency revenue had grown 85 percent. The total revenue was marginally up from Rs 100 crore last fiscal to Rs 111 crore in 2000-01.
During the year, the only highlight was Datapro's tie-up with Canada-based Multiactive Inc to market e-business, CRM and contact management products as national distributor. It also formed strategic alliances with ISS (Internet Security Services) for intrusion detection software, with Bio-ID for biometric solutions, and with Infoweb for high performance mail-based systems.
During 2000-01, while continuing its traditional software and peripherals sales and support lines, Datapro developed a strong focus on enhanced services, value-addition and a range of security products.
The sales and support division (SSN) has an extensive distribution network of over 1,400 channel partners, which is expected to be increased to 2,000 this year.
Datapro has diverse interests in sales and support for networking products, computer education, hardware training, software and consultancy, services and exports. "Each division of Datapro works hand in hand with others, sharing facilities and skill-sets to generate high levels of synergy and provide comprehensive IT solutions/services to customers," says Sandeep Karnavat, GM - Marketing.
Datapro has national-level distribution tie-ups with world leaders like Microsoft, Computer Associates, Corel, APC, Packeteer, Nortel Networks, E-Lock Technologies, abc Multiactive and Quark.
With its strategic product repertoire that offers cost-saving benefits to customers using their existing infrastructure, Datapro is looking at a larger slice of the market share through through its channel.
Datapro has internally begun gearing up for e-business. With the development of a Web-enabled system their registered channel partners will be able to book their orders and track deliveries online.
This system will help channel partners getting online inventory status and orders can be logged in 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. "Typical distribution products like Microsoft, APC and Corel would definitely get benefits due to this system," says Sandeep.
