Corporation, Tata Finance, The Times of India, the countrywide network for Bank of Punjab among many others.

Today the company boasts of having 25 Cisco Certified Network Administrators (CCNA) as against a mandatory one CCNA to be a Cisco Partners. “All the CCNAs have grown with the company and have had their certifications come during the course of their stay here,” says Lt Col HS Bedi, MD. Tulip Software, soon to be rechristened as Tulip IT Services Ltd, addresses the networking needs of MNCs who are typically multi-location. The company wants to limit itself to this target market and not go to the government. “We insist on advances, so the government is a no-no,” says the ex-army officer. While a major share of its revenue comes from WAN solutions, only 10 percent is attributed to box moving, while nearly 35 percent comes from channel business because of the integration of hardware as part of the solutions offered.

In the recent past, the company has moved away from the product business. “We will now focus our attention on premium products, clients and services,” says Bedi and therefore the change in name for a better repositioned Tulip. As an integral part of this strategy, Tulip is looking at wireless LAN as an opportunity.

While the product segment is under severe pressure as a result of the slowdown, the services space is looking at healthy growth. And Tulip is looking to double its revenues to Rs 100 crore by the end of the year. “More than the turnover, we want to work towards better profitability. We have set for ourselves Rs 10 crore net profit to work towards,” says Bedi optimistically.
