At the event, Asus will also showcase its latest line of products for the first half of 2016. This is the first time in India; such a property has been initiated by any company. Asus’s focus with this program is to shape and nurture the future opinion leaders who are passionate about overclocking and technology. This event which is a big impetus to such a challenging hobby will also serve as an engaging and informative platform for budding overclocking enthusiasts. The event will be followed by a live, extreme overclocking session with Hazzan Jadid, one of the world’s best overclockers flown down particularly for this event along with India’s best overclockers Shatul Durlabhji, aka ‘Toolius’ and local boy Sumon Pathak.

Spearheading the event, Vinay Shetty – Regional Director, Component Business, ASUS India said, “ For ASUS, overclocking has always been a very key area of focus. We started this program five years ago in Mumbai. During our last OC event, many of our Kolkata loyalists urged us to come to their city. That triggered the idea of an OC Tour, something no one has done in this country. It would give us a chance to meet all these budding enthusiasts face to face and understand their sentiment, gauge their feedback and nurture an ever growing community. Today I saw 15 year old children over clock, this means we are not far away from Overclocking becoming a competitive sport in India. I was absolutely delighted by the spirit and enthusiasm shown by everyone who attended the event. It was very overwhelming.”

There were a host of demo products presented by the Vinay Shetty, Asus Regional Director, Component business, India & South Asia which let everyone get a first-hand look and feel of some of the brand new innovations from ASUS expected in the first half of 2016. There were a wide range of motherboards starting with the star attraction, which were the MAXIMUS VIII FORMULA followed closely by the MAXIMUS VIII HERO ALPHA, the B150 PRO GAMING /AURA and the SABERTOOTH Z170 MARK 1. In terms of GPUs, there was the STRIX-GTX980TI on display along with the STRIX-R9390X Wireless networking products featured what is titled the most powerful consumer device in the world, the RT-AC5300 along with the RT-AC3200, both triband Gigabit routers

The ‘S1 Mobile LED Projector’ piqued everyone’s interest, a projector with HDMI and Micro USB connectivity which fits it the palm of your hand also doubles up a portable power source. The ‘Vivo Watch’, a health watch which monitors your heart rate and a staggering 10 day battery life was amongst the products showcased.

The head turner amongst the products was the newly launched, ‘Google Chromebit’, a candy bar shaped portable computing device which runs on ChromeOS capable of turning any monitor or Smart TV into a computer.

The showcase was followed up with the most anticipated event, the extreme overclocking competition by one of the world’s best overclockers, Hazzan and India’s top overclockers, Shatul, Amey and Sumon. The competition gave participants to win prizes of up to INR 30,000.

Speaking with much excitement, Hazzan, who is one of the best overclockers in the world, travelled from Indonesia particularly for this event said “India has tremendous talent and Asus will affect a much needed change with this excellent initiative. I was extremely happy to see the energy and answer questions the enthusiasts asked me. I see India making it big on an international platform with a world of talent and with brands to encourage them in a similar fashion.”

Local boy Sumon Pathak aka Techarx exclaimed, “Kolkata's tech enthusiasts always manage to stay atop the food chain. However the aspiring few who wish to overclock never get the much-needed momentum due to its limited focus by brands. Kudos to ASUS, hosting the first ever Overclocking tour in India with Veteran Overclocking legends and novices alike.

Shatul Durlabhji aka Toolius, India’s top overclocker said, “My primary reason to be associated with an event of such magnitude is to foresee the Indian Flag hoisted in International competitions and to encourage the next generation of overclockers and enthusiasts to take this art to the next level.”

“This is the biggest change taking place since previously; something like a specific focus on overclocking hadn’t been done before. Even today, extreme overclocking remains a rare occurrence in India as opposed to its international counterparts” said Amey Gokhale, one of the pioneers of overclocking in India from over 14 years.
