Systems integration, maintenance services and banking as a vertical were the three core areas that saved the day for CMS Computers. The company which had grown by only three percent in 2000-01, had an overall growth of 14 percent last year.

And this has helped it climb from its erstwhile position of #13 in DQCI Silver Club to #11 this year.

CMS tied up with Stratus Technologies as its distributor for their servers in India. Stratus also certified CMS to provide the full spectrum of customer service offerings and programs directly to its customers using the worldwide electronic Stratus service network. Acer India too partnered with CMS as its systems integrator and service partner.

Besides these tie-ups, the company focused its energies on protecting profitability. Data cards and volume printers were two niche product areas which brought in some good money for the company. It also bagged a Rs 15 crore order from Standard Chartered bank.

During the year the company invested Rs 60 crore on building infrastructure for its outsourcing business of maintenance

services.

CMS Computers offers services and solutions in the IT software domain and has clients like Citibank, L&T, ONGC and VSNL. It provides systems and network integration services for telecom, banking, manufacturing and service industries.
