Current IT infrastructure in the company
Misys Banking Systems has over 600 PCs at its Bangalore unit currently, along with more than 45 different servers to cater to the needs of the different software developments that take place. Additionally, the unit in Bangalore has connectivity to all its offices located in the UK as well as other countries through the Internet. Connectivity is provided via technologies like Multi-Protocol Label Switching for various offices. It is through these different ways that a well-connected infrastructure across the 38 countries is established.

Proposed IT infrastructure for 2006
Misys will be moving to a new facility by October, 2006. Planning and works on this new facility, also based in Bangalore, have already begun. The new facility will have the entire required IT infrastructure in order to enable a smooth functioning of the organization. In addition to the Internet and other connectivity protocols, provision will be made for many voice and data systems.

Current systems supplier
Currently Misys procures its PCs from Dell. Since the company has an array of servers of various types, it gets its servers from different vendors including Dell, HP, IBM as well as Sun. These are procured through partners after placing an order with the vendor directly.

Qualities they look for in a supplier
Given that Misys has to cater to a large section of customers, it banks on suppliers who offer very good support. Also important is the quality of product and service provided besides a quick response. Based on the kind of software being developed and therefore the platform on which they are developed, Misys would choose the relevant vendor to get its servers.

For this company, getting adequate and timely after sales support is equally important and it stresses on this factor when purchasing from
any supplier. Since Misys gets special price offerings from its suppliers, pricing has not been an area of major concern thus far.
