6.HCL Infosystems:From Strength To Strength
The clear focus for HCL Infosystems during 2006-07 was to enhance value
for its thousands of channel partners by adding new products and services,
strengthen support infrastructure, and increase reach
For office automation products, HCL grew the channel for imaging products
from 110 channel partners to over 225, all over the country. HCL has now an
extensive distribution network across the country in more than 4,000 towns and
with more than 50,000 dealers to become the preferred choice for distributing
digital lifestyle products like mobile phones, iPods, and digital cameras.
Going a little beyond traditional IT and communications, HCL announced new
products and solutions that included digital signage solutions and low-cost
satellite. Besides this, the company expanded its portfolio with Toshiba L30
Portege R500 ultra-portable notebooks, Toshiba Stylish Satellite M200 series
notebooks, new models of Apple iPods, Plantronics PC headsets, Altec Lansing MP3
speakers, Kingston (for flash memory cards) and new digital cameras from Kodak
and Casio.
To make fast growing products like notebooks more accessible and affordable,
HCL took Toshiba budget notebooks at sub-Rs 30,000 price-point. Therefore the
channel reach for these was significantly expanded. The company also leveraged
here the rate contracts like DGS&D registration, where Toshiba is a more
established name, and exploited its strong sales channel support.
Last year, HCL won an award from Toshiba for Best Sales and Service in Asia
for its digital MFPs. Again, from Toshiba, it won the 'Toshiba Color Copier
Champion Award 2007' for improving overall customer approach and better
technical capability. HCL also got the 'Excellence Award for Distribution' from
Nokia, and the 'Best Partner Award' from Apple for iPods distribution.
