9.Savex Computers :A Good Show

One of the fastest growing service providers of last fiscal Savex Computers plans to a make inroads into tier-2 and -3 cities to keep up this momentum

In 2006-07, Savex Computers achieved a growth rate of 36 percent growing its revenues from Rs 296 crore to Rs 459 crore. Maximum of this revenue came from the West and South, with the two contributing 35 and 34 percent respectively. The northern market pitched in 28 percent to the overall revenue, while East registered marginal three percent.

Savex Computers opened three new branches in 2006-07, taking the total number of branches to 33. Besides the opening of new branches, it also saw an increase in the number of employees by a whopping 20 percent. Of these, 76 people are involved in sales and marketing, and the company hopes to induct another 14 people to this division in the current fiscal.

Savex added HP consumer desktops, laptops and printers to its existing list of brands during 2006-07. The HP tie-up was most significant development for Savex because it was lacking a printer range in its portfolio since it discontinued selling Lexmark two years ago.

HP has signed up Savex to distribute its Presario range of consumer PCs and notebooks in the northern, southern and western regions. Almost half of this distributor's revenue came from the HP product line. The company's Samsung business also witnessed good traction boosted by the increased demand for TFT and LCD panels.

This fiscal, the company hopes to leverage the Presario sales to push HP pavilion products more effectively in the market. It has already tied up with large-format retailers like Croma, eZone, Reliance, etc to sell these lifestyle-oriented products, and expects 10 percent of its overall revenues to come from this business line.
