19.Transtek Infoways:Sizzle To Slowdown

After doubling its turnover in 2005-06, the company managed to grow by just 11 percent during last fiscal

When Transtek Infoways doubled its turnover from Rs 50 crore to Rs 107 crore in 2005-06, a lot of people sat up and took notice of this company. But the company could not maintain that growth and posted a turnover of just Rs 120 crore last fiscal, registering a growth of merely 11 percent.

This did not mean that the year was not eventful for the company. It was appointed as the national distributor for Fujitsu and MSI last year, which buoyed its vendor portfolio comprising Kingston, Genius, X Free and Lacie.

Beginning its journey with just two offices in New Delhi and Bangalore, Transtek today has its offices in 13 different locations. The company further expanded its reach to the wider base of channel partners, and opened new offices in Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Coimbatore.

The change in after-sale service procedure by Kingston and Genius, where the warranty is now given by the principals directly to the channel, has helped Transtek to share an amicable relationship with them.

The company claims that partnership with MSI and Fujitsu has earned a lot of acknowledgement for the company, and has helped it bag important orders from prominent clients. A major highlight for Transtek last fiscal was the award conferred on it by Maxtor as the 'Best Distributor for Enterprise Products' in APAC. The award was announced by Maxtor during a global distribution meet at Macau.

For its partners, Transtek launched a new channel offer called 'Genius Festival Bonanza', giving partners selling Genius a chance to win a stay at Thailand. Another program that the distributor intro-duced was a scheme offering Xfree multimedia speakers as prize on conditions being met.
