| 10.Maxtone Electronics :Slow But Steady The opening of two new branch offices was the highlight for Maxtone
Electronics in an otherwise non-eventful financial year
Maxtone Electronics rose from 11th to 10th position on DQ Channels Silver
Club rankings. Its turnover for 2006-07 was Rs 270 crore, 28 percent higher than
its turnover for 2005-06 of Rs 220 crore.
More than half of Maxtone Electronics' revenue came from the western region
which contributed to around 61 percent of its revenue, while the northern region
contributed to 20 percent of the company's revenue. In the region-wise revenue,
contribution pie chart for Maxtone Electronics, the southern and eastern
regions had relatively smaller share of the pie with 9 and 10 percent,
respectively.
The SME/SMB segment contributed to only three percent of Maxtone Electronics'
overall revenue, while the contribution of the SOHO segment to Maxtone's total
revenue was around five percent. The banking and financial services industries'
contribution six percent, which was an increase by half a percent from 2005-06.
A major portion of Maxtone's revenue came from the reseller and system
integrator businesses amounting to 75 percent of the company's overall turnover.
Maxtone does not expect this contribution percentage to go down in the future.
It maintain that as business increases, the channel contribution will hover
around 75 percent. At the same time, it expects a better uptake from the retail
segment, which is currently bring in seven percent revenue. This is largely
because of the opening up of the retail environment in India and the increasing
presence of large format retailers and digital lifestyle outlets.
There was an increase in the number of employees working with Maxtone
Electronics from 200. This was in part due to its newly opened branch offices in
Raipur and Indore. This takes the total number of its office to 14, excluding
the head-office. With the number of branch offices going up, the number of
channel partners is also on the rise. Another feather in Maxtone Electronics'
cap was added when Seagate awarded it with the 'Most Strategic Premium Partner'
award.
Maxtone has made a mark in the IT business in India with its own brands HIS
and Maxforce in the market for products like PCs, motherboards, graphic cards,
add-on cards, etc.
Maxtone is the distributor for Compaq Presario desktops, laptops, spares,
upgrades and Compaq ECarepaqs for the western region. It is also the
sub-distributor for Intel processors and motherboards. Apart from the own
branded mother-boards, HIS and Maxforce, Maxtone is also a distributor for DFI
