Western Digital (WD) announced the addition of two distributors to its channel network: Jupiter International, Kolkata, and Compuage Infocom, Mumbai. The company is building its distribution infrastructure to penetrate all Indian markets.

In an enhancement to its channel strategy, Western Digital Volume Distribution segment in India will be further divided into the regional and upcountry markets to address resellers and small SI/assemblers. While Venktron Infotech, Champion Computers and Lalani Infotech will continue to focus on regional markets where they have a strong presence. Jupiter International, Compuage Infocom and Inspan Infotech will address the upcountry markets especially B, C and D categories.

WD will continue to work with Mediaman Infotech in order to target the fast-emerging external and retail hard drive market in India. Commenting on this strategic move, Sharad Srivastava, Director-Sales South Asia and India, WD said, “Based on our expansive foray into new markets and feedback from customers in these regions, we are increasing our upcountry presence. The local expertise of Jupiter International and Compuage Infocom will help us to achieve this goal.”
