HP to focus on micro-verticals

Increasing partner numbers, introducing new products for the SMB segment, expanding geographic footprint across India and focus on microverticals are some of the things that are on anvil for HP in the year 2007. According to Ashok Pamidi, Director-Commercial Accounts, SMB and Enterprise Partners with Technology Solutions Group (TSG), HP India Sales, “SMB is the fastest growing sector in India. We are looking to reach out more effectively to this sector through geographic expansion and want to increase our presence in the country from current 20 to about 30 cities over the next few months. Since SMBs include both the mid size and small market segments, we have appointed two separate teams of people to address the various issues in this sector be it storage, servers or software.”

With a partner centric approach, HP would focus on the micro-verticals of finance (banking and non-banking), auto ancillary, pharma, construction, education and primary health care. “Based on our research we have understood that the finance sector is the fastest growing sector in India. Both banking as well as non-banking sectors are set for rapid growth. Government regulations and the buoyancy in the economic conditions of the country are fueling this growth. While looking to make the most of the opportunity here we shall see how best HP along with its partners (the SIs, VARs and ISVs) can offer customers end-to end solutions to meet all their requirements,” Pamidi added.

Also on the anvil for HP is tapping into an additional 60-70 micro-verticals through their ISVs. “In order to explore the business opportunities in these micro-verticals we are looking for new partners who will work with us to provide software as well as hardware solutions to the customer,” Pamidi said.
