The Bhavnagar Information Technology Association (BITA) organized a general body meeting last week to select their new executive board members for the year 2008-09. Utsav Parekh of Quest Computers will be the new President; Rajesh Dhanani of Alpha Infosys has been selected as VP. Bhadrik Oza of Bits-N-Bytes is the new Secretary and Nitesh Karia will shoulder the responsibility of Treasurer.

The executive members have been selected for a period of one year. Dhanani said, “It was a mutual understanding between members of the association. We are elected for a period of one year and if other members wish to continue they can.”

Since the formation of BITA in April 2005, only two elections have been conducted. “We expect all our association members to take active participation in the developments of BITA and its activities. So we are giving every member an opportunity to play on the court as a main player. Efforts are at an initial stage to bring new things to our association and we believe that this will definitely help us to work enthusiastically,” expressed Parekh.

BITA plans to have frequent meetings to update other members about the new initiatives and agendas of the time. In these general body meetings the members will also discuss results of the new initiatives taken before and in the case of failure what are the immediate steps.

To support their development activities, BITA is inviting all hardware companies to present their new technologies in the region. The association members have also decided to attend awareness programs organized by multinational companies.
