With broadband soon becoming a routine for accessing Internet, Netgear wants to reap the huge potential that the VoIP market offers in India. It is planning to introduce VoIP phones in the JAS quarter for the first time in India.

Confirming this, Kerman Rana, Regional Sales Manager (West & South) said, "We already have an edge in the VoIP market with our switching products. They are ideal for deploying VoIP phones, access points or IP-based cameras. By the end of the JAS quarter, we will introduce VoIP products that will include VoIP phones."

Besides launching new products, Netgear has many other plans to strengthen its position in the country. The company plans to set up proper offices in a month's time. Currently, all the Netgear staff operates from their residences.

With proper office setups, Netgear plans to broad-base its channel network. "We will improve our geographical reach by expanding our channel network. All these put together will surely place us in the top three vendors in this space," he said.

In just a year's time, Netgear has fared well in the switches and Wireless-LAN products market. "We are already doing very well with our Wireless-LAN products, said Kerman adding, "We should be in the top three vendors for WLAN products."

Meanwhile, according to the latest survey reports by Voice&Data and CyberMedia Research, Netgear was ranked third in sales (value) in 2004-05 for WLAN products.
