SAP India, the leading provider of business software solutions, announced broad-based growth, significant milestones and initiatives for the Indian market. SAP's completion of a decade of operations in India also coincided with the company becoming the first business software solutions provider to cross the 1000-customer mark in the Indian market.

The announcement was made at the SAP Summit'06 - the largest business and technology forum in the country, attended by over 2000 delegates including, SAP customers, partners, analysts and the SAP leadership team.

Announcing this landmark and unparalleled achievement, Alan Sedghi, President and CEO, SAP South Asia said, "Over the years Indian enterprises of all sizes, operating across verticals, have been adopting SAP solutions at a rapid pace thereby reiterating the market confidence on SAP. One of the key reasons for our growth in India has been our continued commitment to the Indian customers as demonstrated by our introduction of world-class solutions localized to Indian needs.”

According to Alan, India is among the top eight strategic markets for SAP globally and is contributing significantly to the SAP customer base in the region and globally.

Today SAP solutions empower over 1000 Indian enterprises from across large, mid-sized and small enterprises with the benefits of world-class enterprise software solutions to accelerate growth through innovation. SAP's Indian customer base features over 564 SME customers, including a significant number of customers for it's recently launched SAP Business-One Solution.

Signifying the continued momentum, SAP India has signed on 164 new customers in the first few months of 2006. These customers range across key industry segments including consumer products, retail, BFSI, professional services, textiles and pharmaceuticals - demonstrating SAP's broad based growth in the country.

Some of the significant wins for SAP in recent times include State Bank of India, Coal Mines Provident Fund Organization, Ranbaxy Fine Chemicals, Donear Suitings, Lloyds Metal & Engineering, MSN Labs, Satyam Computers, Great Eastern Energy Corporation, Morarji Textiles, IndiGo Airlines, HCL Technologies, MSPL, Lux Hosiery and Bajaj Auto among others.

Leveraging the vast pool of Indian IT services companies SAP has built a unique and vast ecosystem of partners thereby ensuring a high degree of customer satisfaction. These partners have significantly enhanced their SAP practices over the years and have been recognized in the global SAP ecosystem. TCS, one of SAP's Indian partners, recently became the first partner for the Asia Pacific region to be recognized as a global partner.

Today, the SAP partner ecosystem in India include 14 ISV partners offering over 18 "Powered by SAP NetWeaver" solutions, 20 SMB All-in-One partners offering over 20 micro-vertical solutions based on mySAP All-in-One, 22 service partners and three SAP Business One distributors.

Building on the strong base of customers and partners, SAP aims to enhance its broad based growth in India including an enhanced focus on verticals and expansion of SAP offices.
