Increasing customer base, strengthening existing customer relationships and working more closely with upcountry resellers are some of the things that Tally Solutions has on anvil for this year post the launch of Tally 9. According to Shoaib Ahmed, Vice-President (Sales), Tally Solutions, "We want to more effectively penetrate the upcountry markets in India. This year, we aim to double our installed base of specialized retail solutions. We have increased our regional presence from four to about 15 (markets) with direct sales and service presence even in the cities like Bhopal, Lucknow, Hyderabad and Cochin. This is to strengthen our presence in the B and C towns."

In order to reach out more effectively to the mass market, Tally Solutions would work along with its direct channel partners (close to 200) as also hardware and software resellers and ensure that customers get sales and service support as and when required. Additionally, the company is looking to work closely with charted accountants and other customers in order to generate enough referrals for the future. "The idea is to maximize on the available business opportunities and lead in all emerging markets in the next couple of years," said Shoaib while indicating that outside of India, Dubai has become an important operating center for Tally. "We have set up office in Singapore and are exploring investment opportunities in the African region too," he added.

Giving details of the new version of Tally, Shoaib said, "Tally 9 comes along with multi-lingual capability and payroll option. It incorporates nearly 13 languages and is backed by a proprietary technology - C:MuLate (Concurrent Multi-lingual Accelerated Technology Engine). The Object Oriented Database Engine helps deliver speed, power, scalability and reliability. The dynamic features and MIS capabilities in the product are designed to simplify business operations, while giving users complete control over accounting, inventory and statutory processes. Multi-lingual and data synchronization capabilities allow customers to transact business without language barriers or geographical boundaries."

Aggressively priced at bout Rs 10,800 for a single user and Rs 22,500 for multiple users, Tally 9 enables users to perform common functions by choosing from the built-in vernacular interfaces that are available. Interfaces in additional languages are progressively being added and the Arabic-enabled version of Tally 9 is also likely to be available in 2007.

The new features apart, users of Tally 9 can also benefit from the Tally Value Pack, which helps to access latest upgrades and updates, on all new product releases. This annual product upgrade assurance offering helps keep Tally software updated to the current version. For all users who avail of this value added service, Tally has a bonus reward whereby for a minimal yearly investment, users can ensure that all major releases of Tally software are made available to them for almost no additional cost. Users can purchase a Tally Value Pack from their nearest Tally reseller and benefit from the option of updating their licence to a new major release of Tally. This is available online and users can get free minor release updates which include enhancements to existing features and improvements in user experience.
