Select Technologies ties up with VMWare

To extend virtualization strategy and focus on the SMB segment together

Select Technologies, a division of WeP Solutions, has entered into a distribution tie-up with VMWare. VMware offers virtualization platform IT infrastructure, enabling higher level of protection for business critical systems and data for small and medium business enterprises. The tie-up will be mutually beneficial as Select Technologies also primarily focuses on the SMB segment.

Virtualization is a proven software technology that is rapidly transforming the IT landscape and fundamentally changing the way that people compute. The x86 computer hardware that was initially designed to run only a single operating system and single application, now runs multiple operating systems and multiple applications, increasing the utilization and flexibility of hardware.

However, virtualizing a single physical computer is just the beginning. VMware offers a virtualization platform that can scale across hundreds of interconnected physical computers and storage devices to form an entire virtual infrastructure.

One of the advantages of virtualization is that it helps eliminate planned downtime for machine maintenance and also helps recover quickly from unplanned outages with the ability to securely backup and migrate entire virtual environments with no interruption in service.

It also offers a new way of managing IT infrastructure and can help IT administrators spend less time on repetitive tasks such as provisioning, configuration, monitoring and maintenance. This also helps to achieve significantly higher resource utilization by pooling common infrastructure resources and breaking the legacy 'one application to one server' model.
