Western Digital (WD) announced the appointment of Aditya Infotech to sell its range of surveillance and AV products in India. “With surveillance being one of our focus areas for 2008, we were keen to work with a firm that brings domain knowledge coupled with an all-India reach. Aditya Infotech has an established capability in these markets and will provide immense value to our offerings,” said Sharad Srivastava, Director Sales-India and South Asia, WD.

“Storage in surveillance is undergoing a major revolution. We have been in the industry for over 13 years now and we believe that the surveillance market is one of the fastest growing market segments in India. Our growing nationwide network and strong technical support infrastructure will help WD make deeper inroads into the regional markets of India. Partnering with a global giant like WD will also enable us to strengthen our offerings,” said Aditya Khemka, CEO, Aditya Infotech.

SATA interface-based hard drives, specialized for video recording applications, are finding increasing use in surveillance solutions and the AV market. WD has a range of specialized SATA interface drives that are suitable for these markets for their high capacities, low power consumption and quiet and cool operation. WD AV and WD RE2 hard drives are widely deployed in these systems.

“The country is witnessing a digital revolution and people are becoming increasingly aware of digital solutions in the market. In addition to the traditional consumers of such digital surveillance solutions, we expect demand from public storage facilities, universities, businesses and residences. We have high expectations for WD's opportunities in this fast-growing market segment. ” Srivastava added.

WD also intends to conduct a series of focused training and product road shows across India for resellers and system integrators of surveillance and AV equipment under the WD Contact program.
