Solix unveils solution for Baan archiving

Enterprise data archiving and secure test data management solutions now available for Baan ERP applications

Solix Technologies announced Solix EDMS for Baan archiving. This solution will bring enterprise data archiving, data masking and secure cloning to the Baan environment, increasing application performance, security and manageability while reducing storage costs.

Due to its long history in the market and difficulty in migrating ERP applications, many organizations have remained on Baan and have very large databases, possibly even getting close to the table limit for their underlying database. Large databases are often difficult to manage and maintain from production to test and development with system and reporting performance negatively affected by the database size.

According to Christian Hestermann, Director, Gartner Research, “Gartner sees user-centric ERP to be the next step in the future development of business applications. To achieve this user-centricity, a tight integration between business processes and good data management practices, including data archiving, document and knowledge management and embedded analytics, is critical."

Solix Enterprise Data Archiving for Baan can extend the life of Baan applications by archiving legacy or underutilized data and reducing the overall size of the database. Enterprise archiving is a proven strategy for managing large application databases to improve application performance and increase manageability of the database. For organizations looking to do a planned migration of Baan to the Infor platform or to other ERP platforms, Solix's metadata manager acts as a project accelerator for managing data migrations.

Solix enterprise data archiving for Baan:

  • Archives any version of the Baan application
  • Creates the archive without having to create a separate company
  • Maintains metadata in Solix Metadata repository, eliminating metadata discrepancies between archive and production
  • Allows business rules to dictate archiving logic-archive by your business process, rather than change your process to fit the archive rules
  • Archives at the database level for rapid archiving of data while maintaining referential integrity
  • Maintains access to archive and production data through native application layer
