Sujata Electronics resumes distribution with Touchmate products

By DQC NEWS BUREAU - 21 August, 2003

After keeping a low profile in the hardware distribution business for a year, Sujata Electronics is all set to make a come-back with a 'promising' tie-up. According to Anjali Berlia, Director, the company has finalized plans with Dubai-based Touchmate ME to exclusively distribute the brand in SAARC. “Touchmate has over 300 products including computers, accessories and peripherals,” informs Anjali.

One of the pioneers in the distribution business, Sujata Electronics was the pioneer to distribute floppy disk drives and Seagate hard disk drives in India. But, due to increasing support issues, it stopped selling Seagate HDDs a year and half ago. Since then the company increased its focus on promoting gaming and multimedia software titles of Microsoft, UBI Soft, THQ and Inca. However, with Seagate improving its support infrastructure recently, the company has again started promoting the brand, though in small numbers.

With the Touchmate tie-up, Sujata hopes to bring back the glory it enjoyed earlier. “It was a conscious decision to take up Touchmate, because it has world-class products at affordable prices,” says Anjali.

Incidentally, this is not the first time that Touchmate has made its presence in India. Earlier, ACi Infocom, a sister-concern of Sujat Electronics, had tried selling Touchmate products in India. But, with limited focus on the brand, ACi did not pursue further to make it an official arrangement.

Touchmate's NRI promoters -- Vasant Menghani (MD), Pradeep Menghani (Group MD) and Sunny Menghani (MD - IT) -- have a group of 18 companies in Dubai. The group has operations in Russia, Africa, UK and USA. Quality Gulf Company is the flagship company and there are several Quality Computers showrooms all over UAE.
