Dr Rupamanjari Ghosh, Vice-Chancellor of Shiv Nadar University was felicitated as the Visionary EduLeader of India by ‘Re: think India’, a nationalist think-tank which catalyzes multi-faceted conversations within various thematic sectors spanning Academia, Industry and Government.

Sri Pranab Mukherjee, former President of India, was present at the felicitation ceremony. Dr Ghoshwas recognized for her contribution in championing a learner-centric higher education ecosystem at Shiv Nadar University, anchored research and innovation, flourishing on progressive interdisciplinary, driven by an outstanding faculty, and supported by national and international academic partnerships.

Dr RupamanjariGhosh, Vice-Chancellor, Shiv Nadar University said, “I am a scientist and researcher myself. Shiv Nadar University has given me an opportunity to build an institution on the foundation of research and holistic, multidisciplinary education, in line with the unique vision of the Founder of the University. This award is an acknowledgement that our work is in the right direction. The University has to drive the ecosystem of research & innovation in the society, and assure quality delivery for the Nation and the Globe.I thank Rethink India, and accept this honour in all humility, on behalf of everyone associated with the ambitious dream of Shiv NadarUniversity.”

Dr. Ghosh holds a Ph.D. from the University of Rochester, New York, where she worked as a Rush Rhees Fellow, chosen for "outstanding scholarly ability and the promise of exceptional contributions to scholarship and teaching." Her research interests are in Experimental and Theoretical Quantum Optics, Laser Physics, Nonlinear Optics, and Quantum Information.

Her pioneering work with Prof. L. Mandel on two-photon interference (using the nonlinear optical process of spontaneous parametric down-conversion) has yielded a new direction in quantum optics and quantum information, in the creation and use of a source of entangled photon pairs, and of single photons, at the forefront of research today.
