It seems the Indian IT & Telecom department is not enough to uphold the ban on social websites, but they need more hands on it. Even after the ban on 22 Social sites in Kashmir, people are enjoying facebook, twitter and WhatsApp and mocking the state government.

However, fixed-line broadband users are unable to log on to those banned sites on their laptops and desktops, while surprisingly, connecting to the same connection via Wi-Fi on mobiles permitted them access.

Faisal Kawoosa, principal analyst at Gurgaon-based Cyber MediaReserach suggested there were other means to restrict the use of social media for sharing videos.

“Rather than banning social media sites, the authorities should ensure that large videos or pictures are not shared. A person who cannot share a video on Kashmir on social media can always seek help from somebody sitting outside Kashmir. When you use proxy applications like VPN or Signal amid restrictions, your identity will remain hidden,” he said.

According to the sources, services provider are still working according to the orders issued by the state government.
