Logitech would shortly be launching its Cordless Presenter in India, along with a series of other products like the mobile phone headsets and PDA keyboards. It is also planning an aggressive revamping of the channels, Gavin Wu, vice president, sales and marketing informed CNS.

Answering a question from CNS, Wu said that even four years back piracy was almost 100 percent in India as far as Logitech products were concerned — which meant for every original Logitech product there was one fake or illegal product available in the market. “But thanks to MAIT and interference by the local police and law enforcement authorities, piracy is at a check today, at least definitely where Logitech products are concerned. The Quality Brands Protection Committee in China is also working in this matter.”

That piracy has been in check, has translated into more product launches for the APAC in general and for India in particular,

opined Wu. He cited the example of Sony having released the PS1 in India, only after it had launched PS2 globally for piracy reasons.
