Seagate Technology has announced their latest expansion of channel partner
program for India. This will be followed by a launch in other SAARC countries.
The company also informed about its plans to foray into the consumer electronics
and mobile segments.
Sharad Srivastava, Country Manager, Seagate India, informs that the new
program would take the existing reseller channel program a step ahead and would
consist of three elements – the SCSI partner program, the integrator partner
(SIP) program and the enterprise partner program.

SIPs will primarily cater to SOHO, SMEs and home user segments. Large SIs
selling HDDs as part of a solution will be eligible for the Seagate enterprise
partner program, but they have to buy the products from an authorized source, be
it a distributor or an SIP.
Seagate will offer partners certified engineer training, along with the
regular product and technology training and e-learning opportunities. A rewards
scheme for the channel has also been announced. Surfgold.com, an online loyalty
rewards program network, has also been roped in by Seagate for its program
targeted at Indian import partners and storage partners. The entire network of
15 import partners and some 350 storage partners spread out across 36 Indian
cities will be eligible for the same.
Seagate also plans to open a ‘Swap center’ for warranty replacements of
its drives.
