Wrestling is much more than just a sport for the residents of Haryana - it’s a matter of pride and passion. Little wonder that Wrestling has from inception seen the highest representation from Haryana. As one of the most preferred telecom networks in the state, Vodafone has taken the lead to present the pan Haryana Vodafone ‘Dangal’ tournament with the objective of promoting local wrestling talent and giving them a platform to compete and win recognition. Through this initiative Vodafone connects with the masses and further strengthen its connect with the culture and tradition of Haryana.

Earlier  Vodafone organised a similar tournament in Rewari which received a positive response from across the state. Vodafone decided to take this tournament a notch-up and hopes to contribute in further strengthening its hold on its favourite sport in future as well, just like its network.

The tournament in Bahadurgarh brought wrestlers from popular Akharas across country to showcase their talent. There were several bouts organised during the day for number of prizes. Joginder from Delhi defeated Biniya from Jammu to win a staggering amount of Rs 2 Lakh as prize money. In another bout for Rs 2 Lakh, there was a tie between Jassa Patti from Punjab and Krishna from Haryana.

Formally throwing open the gates to Vodafone ‘Dangal’, Mohit Narru, Business Head – Haryana, Vodafone India, said Vodafone believes that given a formal platform to the young and talented youth of the region, many of them can go on to make the state and even Nation proud. With Vodafone ‘Dangal’ a first of its kind Wrestling tournament we are delighted to give that opportunity to them. The tournament will help identify and promote quality Wrestling talent in the state. Wrestling is a sport that requires great physical and mental strength and agility. Just like Vodafone’s Data Strong Network, that keeps Haryana connected 24X7. Drawing upon our robust and well spread network including the deeper pockets in the state, Vodafone is keen to bring in participants from every nook and corner of Haryana, making Vodafone ‘Dangal’ a  much awaited event.”
