WAP services to Command subscribers

123india.com and Usha Martin Telekom Ltd (UMTL) – providers of

cellular service in the Calcutta circle, under the brand name of Command –have signed

an agreement to provide WAP-enabled services to Command subscribers. The agreement is part

of 123india’s initiative to provide the company’s services to wireless

communication devices.

Commenting on the alliance, Dhruv Sharma, CEO, 123india.com says,

"The alliance with Usha Martin offers users of Command service a seamless, integrated

solution and access to personalized content. This is part of our plans to provide access

to 123inida’s services from any point, at any time."

The portal has plans to offer various services under the wireless

platform. There will also be an option to personalize content that users want on their

wireless devices. The services provided by 123india include news, horoscopes, recipes,

weather reports, stock quotes and cricket scores.

Arun Kapur, Managing Director and CEO, Command, says, "w@p.command

will empower Command subscribers with the power to leapfrog into an era of complete

wireless connectivity. This service is in synergy with the company mission of responding

to customer needs proactively and being a total communication solution provider."

Command already provides services like mess@ge.command (short message

service) and web2cell (instant messaging from the Internet and alert on the cell phone).

Other services that will become more accessible due to WAP are weather, news, sports and

information services, stock prices, etc.
