According to a report in wabetainfo website, a WhatsApp update now brings the ability for the messenger to share any file type. The feature is said to arrive on all three major platforms Android, iOS and Windows Phone. The maximum size of a file stays the same at 128MB for iOS and 100MB for Android. The website says that users will also be able to share any file from WhatsApp desktop version also.

It is also being said that since WhatsApp is experimenting with this new feature, not all users may get it right away. The rollout process too is expected to be very slow.

Earlier this month, WhatsApp rolled out an update for its iOS app. The update introduces three new features -- Album, Filters and Reply shortcut.

The Album feature enables users to organize images in a better way. When users send or receive a collection of five or more photos/ videos, they will automatically be grouped together as an album, creating a tile display within the messages.

The Filters functionality lets users add filters to their photos, videos and GIFs, directly from the app's camera. The Reply shortcut is designed to make it easier for the users to reply to WhatsApp messages. They just need to swipe right on any message and start composing the response.

In another development, WhatsApp recently announced that it has extended its support for BlackBerry devices until December 31 this year. Back in February last year, the company had announced that its app will stop working on BBOS devices by end of 2016 but the date was later pushed to June 30 this year.
