Visualan had a good year of performance with a hefty growth of 77 percent in channel business. The company achieved the growth by expanding its geographical reach to markets like Cochin, Nagpur and Pune and tying up with some major global players.
Visualan did a good business last fiscal in all PC building items like motherboards, add-on cards, multimedia products, chassis, HDDs and FDDs. It recorded agency revenue of Rs 70 crore in 2000-01 as against Rs 39 crore in 1999-00. The total revenue stood at Rs 127 crore up from 82
crore.
Last year, Visualan tied-up with Gigabyte and also started distributing the entire range of Sony monitors. The company entered into regional distributorship of HP range of PCs and servers.
Visualan also opened offices in New Delhi and Lucknow and plans to open three more branches in the near future.
Visualan has also started a division called Visualan Integrated Technology Solution (VITS). This division will help integrate solutions and services and is targeted at large corporates, government departments and educational institutes.
The company however seems to be concerned with the unfair business practices prevalent in the market. Lamenting on the sad state of affairs, Kamlesh Mehta, MD, says, "The intensity of such unhealthy competition has increased many fold.
Frequent payment problem is haunting distribution business and has resulted in non-conducive business environment for all."
