50 thousand people attend SITA's IT Expo

The South Gujarat Information Technology Association (SITA) the association
of IT partners in Surat recently conducted its 12th IT show, which recorded a
footfall of about 50 thousand.

President of SITA, Ketan Patel said, "SITA has been always striving to
promote IT in the region and is working hard for the benefit of its partners.
The IT-Show 2008 is an effort we carry every year to promote IT here. We
conducted the IT show from 1st of February to 4th of February. This had around
six-domes and each dealt with a different aspect. We had domes for companies
like Microsoft, Intex and IBM others besides consumables like Sony and Moser
Baer. There were also domes for branded PC's companies like Lenovo, IBM, HP,
Fujistu and Zenith. Besides this we all had domes for Power Equipments, Security
and Surveillance, Software, IT-Education and Networking where companies like
D-Link, Linksys, Netgear, Kirloskar, Jetking, You Telecom participated."

Chairman of the Exhibition Committee, Unnat Mehta claimed that around 50
thousand people visited the IT show. Mehta said, "That there were around
105 exhibitors in the IT-Show. We had sent invitations to all the educational
institutions in Surat and some major companies to visit our IT-Show. People from
Surat and other parts of Gujarat like Ankleshwar, Bharuch, Navsari, Valsad and
Vapi attended the IT show that was arranged by SITA."

Another exhibitor and VP of SITA, Chetan Desai said, "SITA's sole aim is
to promote IT in the region and we have been carrying various activities for the
same. IT-Show is just a part of that. We have been working with various
organizations to promote IT in the region. Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce
and Industry (SGCCI), the apex organization of business and industry in South
Gujarat, has supported us for improving the IT awareness in this region."
