Acer announced the launch of a retail promotional scheme 'Last Man Standing', which is inspired by the sport of Heptathlon. Following the theme of the heptathlon, there are seven different awards and the concentration is on five categories of Acer products. The objective is to provide a uniform playing field to Acer retailers catering to both mass market products and niche segment products, as well as encourage them to take advantage of Acer's entire product portfolio for cross selling and up selling opportunities. The contest, valid from October 15, 2004 till December 31, 2004, intends to reward the best and most consistent performing retail partner of Acer India in the country.
"The response we received from our earlier scheme was overwhelming. And this is evident from the fact that we had high performing retail partners emerging at the end of this scheme. This new scheme will ensure very good response, encouraging more retail partners to perform beyond expectations. In our pursuit to make this a level playing field, we have included a wider range of our consumer products, increasing chances to win for our retail partners," said S Rajendran, General Manager, Sales and Marketing, Consumer Products Group, Acer India.
The products that qualify for the scheme are Acer's Aspire range of home PCs and TravelMate notebooks (TM2300, TM4000 series, TM240, TM290), Acer Ferrari notebook, Tablet PC, Ultra portable notebooks, Acer's projectors and the entire range of Acer's TFT monitors. The contest also includes products from the volume products division, the AMD black desktop, Intel's range of desktops and for the first time, the Altos G310 is eligible for this promotion.
New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore are categorized as metro & A1 cities, while all the other retail partners are under the non-metro category. The point system will differ and to qualify, the partner needs to sell a minimum number of products over the period of the contest, in each category. Points earned can be carried forward for the all round awards. Acer's retail partners need to qualify in all seven categories including the 'Gentleman's Club' to be eligible for the title of 'Last Man Standing.' The top performer from the Gentleman's Club will be crowned the 'Last Man Standing,' and is rewarded with a package tour for a couple to Australia.
Retailers are required to qualify in each of the seven award categories, by reaching a pre-set qualification mark.
