Acer launches industry's first Rs-10K LCD monitor

Acer has announced its 15" LCD AL 1512 M monitor at Rs 9,999 plus taxes.
This is an industry first offer of a 15" LCD monitor at sub Rs 10K from
Acer. According to Acer's internal estimates, the total addressable market
(TAM) for monitors is approximately four million, out of which 6% comprise TFT
monitors. On an average, the Indian TFT market comprises of 20,000 monitors sold
per month. A majority of Acer, India's TFT monitor sales come from the ITES,
retail banking verticals with industry leaders in these segments forming Acer's
key clients.

The LCD AL 1512 M has a 15" display respectively with a high contrast
ratio of 450:1 and a brightness of 350 cd/m2. It has a 1024 x 768 resolution and
a contrast ratio of 450:1 and comes with two inbuilt speakers of 1.5 watts each
and a backlit time of 40,000 hours. It has a minimum response time of 23ms and
is light at 2.6 kilograms. The monitor is also supported with a Kensington lock
and has a power consumption of 33W. The AL 1512 also has a wall mounting
facility of 75x75mm.

S Rajendran, GM, Consumer Products Group - Sales and Marketing, Acer India,
said, "Since the budget was presented this year, we have announced
path-breaking price points for all our products. We foresee a growing demand in
users shifting from CRT monitors to TFT monitors for both its aesthetic
qualities as well as to meet technology upgradation requirements and are ready
to meet this demand."
