The Association of Information Technology (AIT) is all set to go to poll on
the 20th of May this year against the backdrop of very poor response for
nominations to the various posts of the association. "It is unfortunate
that the response to the call by the association for the nominations for the
posts of office bearers and the executive committee is very poor. We have hardly
received any nominations for the crucial posts for the elections," lamented
Anand Rao, current President of the AIT.
Up until now, the election for the posts of office bearers was unanimous
because of the absence of other nominations. "Currently there are no
nominations for the crucial posts and we have not more than two nominations from
the existing office bearers," Rao added.
Delving into the reasons behind the current scenario, Rao felt that the lack
of enthusiasm from members had been a major setback. The need of the hour he
felt was for members to come together and work for a common cause.
Sharing his thoughts on the scenario, Sridhar, current Secretary, AIT
said," AIT has taken up the cause of the channel many times and has
achieved considerable success thus far. We thank all partners who supported us
in our endeavor. However a cause of concern now is the fact that there has been
a lack of interest exhibited by a section of the dealer community in recent
times. This has forced us to maintain a low key in our functioning. We urge them
to change their outlook and form a new committee which would have a new vision,
extra vigor and continue on the good work of the previous team."
Given the above situation, candidates have been asked to file nominations on
the day of the election.
