Kannur: As part of the visits scheduled by AKITDA in various districts of Kerala, PG Suresh, President, AKITDA and his team reached Kannur. The association held district-level elections in Kannur district of Kerala on March 7. The selection committee appointed Ravi Sankar Nambiar as President; KC Hareesh as Secretary and Ibrahimkutty as Treasurer. The newly elected members will hold their positions for two years.
During the visit, the members decided to conduct AKITDA State Conference in the month of April 2009. They also shared views and suggestions on the present crisis due to economic slowdown and negative attitude taken by Microsoft on promoting anti-piracy activities.
K Santhosh, ex-President, Kannur District; Mubasheer, President-Calicut District and Santhosh, President-Kasargod District participated in the meeting. The association is also planning to start social insurance scheme for members, initiating a member benefit fund, extending moral and financial assistance to needy members and mediclaim.
On the selection of Nambiar as President of Kannur district, Suresh said, “Kannur is the strongest region in Kerala, and Ravi Shankar is a senior person in the association. I am sure he will be able to handle the role in an appropriate manner and take the association forward.”
Nambiar is CEO of Transworld Technologies and has shouldered various responsibilities in the association itself. On his appointment Nambiar said, “I am very excited about the new role. I am expected to bring diversification, modernization and value-add to the association, and I will give my best.”
A state-wide conference and an IT expo is also scheduled to be conducted in Kannur, but they
will only take place once the association elections are over in the state. The dates will be decided thereafter.
