As part of this, critical life-saving equipment including 82 anaesthesia ventilators, 1238 BiPAP machines and 60 ventilators have already reached India. The medical equipment will be distributed to Amazon’s on-the-ground community partners such as the American India Foundation, ACT Grants and Swasth, who will distribute to verified hospitals and nonprofit organisations across the country to ensure it reaches communities where it is needed the most.

Additionally, Amazon is donating transportation services to the American non-profit organisation India Association of Western Washington and working to support U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation and other U.S. nonprofit organisations to help get medical supplies to India.

Amazon is part of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Global Task Force to help India combat Corona.

It is well known that Corona virus second wave has been destructive in India, with its death toll highest in the world and every day hundreds of thousands of cases adding to the tally. Indian government has been caught in the storm, as many patients have died outside looking for a hospital bed without oxygen. PM Care has come under criticism as many ventilators are reported to be lying there in non-functional conditions as patients are dying without ventilators. India tied up with several countries to produce vaccine for them and exported these doses to these countries as part of the deal. This brought devastating results in India, as very few people could get vaccinated and the entire proportion of the country that managed to receive both doses is said to be only 2.5%. Many countries have stepped up their medical support to India in this crisis and Amazon's efforts are part of this effort.
