AMD introduces Opteron x56 processor models

The AMD Opteron processor models 256/856, the last scheduled
upgrade to the single-core AMD Opteron processor family are now immediately
available. The x56 family offers users a performance boost, running at 3.0GHz,
while still fitting within the same thermal envelope, 95W, as other AMD Opteron
processors.

HP is immediately offering workstation systems featuring the
AMD Opteron processor Model 256. Sun Microsystems and other worldwide solution
providers are immediately offering workstation/server systems featuring the AMD
Opteron processor Model 256/856.
