New Update

AMD announced the launch of its Fax and Win program in a new avatar at the DQCI Channel Champions Conference held here last month. While most of theÂ

rules remain the same, resellers buying at least three processors through a single invoice are now eligible to participate.

The resellers have to fax a copy of the invoice to AMD to earn a ticket for the draw. Two draws are slated for February and two for March, and in eachÂ

draw 25 Swatch Irony watches each worth Rs 3,500 will be given away. "With 100 prizes being given away, the probability of winning for our resellersÂ

increases," informs Rahul Singh, Sr Marketing Specialist, AMD.

The Fax and Win has a special draw for resellers who consistently buy and are eligible for participation in all four draws. The Maha Consistency DrawÂ

will be heldon April 1, 2003 and will give away four more rewards.

"In its last avatar, over 300 partners participated," says Rahul. AMD expects a greater participation this time around. As part of its reseller

rewards program, AMD for the first time introduces the concept of a mystery reward.

All resellers earning 50,000 points or above will earn a mystery reward of an appropriate value. Market sources say that this is being done to tackleÂ

the menace of  discounting schemes. Says a reseller, "Even gifts are discounted in this market." The reseller reward program however includes the

sale of only boxed AMD Athlon XP or MP processors. This step is also being seen as one where AMD wishes to strengthen its presence and mind share in

the assembler market.
