AMD to add 1,000 resellers to its network

AMD Far East Ltd (India) will add 1,000 resellers to its network by this fiscal-end. The company is presently organizing a nine-city roadshow and plans to organize a 10-city even in the next quarter to cover B- and C-class cities.

Says Sanjeev Keskar, County Manager, AMD, "We are looking for prospective partners during this roadshow. We currently have 1,000 partners nationwide and plan to add another 1,000." The company also plans to launch various promotional schemes for its existing system integrators and resellers. It will also designate its partners into three levels-- silver, gold and platinum-- to ensure healthy competition. 

IDC reported that AMD has 13% marketshare in the processors in the country. Its Athlon 64 and Opteron, which were launched last year, have been every well accepted in the market and the company feels that 64-bit is going to be the sought-after solution within a year. 

Haresh Bhuria, National Distribution Manager, AMD says that they are trying to make consumers aware that they need to shift to 64-bit as it offers more flexibility. "We are seeing a trend where people are shifting from Intel to AMD because it is offers more value for money." Haresh recently joined AMD and prior to this he was associated with Intel.

The company wants to focus on the government sector, educational institutes, manufacturing, BFSI and BPO services. "Most of our growth came from SOHO and the SME segment, but now we want to focus more on verticals like BPO, BFSI, government and manufacturing. Recently, we signed a deal with the Tata Group, which is a big achievement for us," Sanjeev informs. AMD has already done business with Goa, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu government.
