Apcom Computers Ltd, a Chennai-based networking and hardware

major, plans to target enterprise segments like telecom, government, educational

institutions and corporates, which it believes are growing markets. Its decision

to launch products required by the Indian enterprise networks is a move in this

direction.

A soft launch of networking products like a series of

switches, routers and remote access servers was made early November this year.

"This initiative is complemented by our systems integrator, OEM and

distribution partner network whose customers benefit with Dax. We are considered

to be the ´Best price-performance high-end networking brand´ by many

enterprises today," says C Sujit Singh, Country Manager, Apcom Computers

Ltd. According to him, this recognition will help the company position Dax in

enterprise networks more effectively.

Apcom also plans to launch an IP phone, which would be a

replacement for PCs on VOIP networks. According to Sujit, this new product,

which would be priced at Rs 20,000 will meet the needs of voice/video

conferencing along with Internet telephony. "This initiative will help

users use the basic operations on the VOIP networks without getting hooked on to

a PC, thus saving cost," adds Sujit. According to him, the beta version of

the IP phone will be available by early part of next year.
