Apple Computers has announced a marketing tie-up with Bangalore-based Ansata
Computers for the distribution of accessories, software and spares across the
country. This agreement positions Ansata as Apple´s authorized reseller (AAR).
Under the agreement, Ansata will distribute accessories like the Airport
(wireless networking hubs and NICs) and iPod (20 GB HDD-based MP3 player for
Apple and Windows users), among others. Ansata will also sell software products
like
aguar (the New OS from Apple), video and audio editing software and spares
from Apple Computers under its portfolio.
"We will supply third party accessories and software
which are compatible with Apple machines," says Leslie Lean, MD, Ansata
Computers.
According to Apple, the appointment of Ansata as distributor
in India, will enhance the reach of the company´s accessories, software and
spares in the home, research, education, personal computing, biotechnology,
software development, graphic-arts segments and other industry verticals across
the country.
Ansata and Apple Computers, together plan to map new markets
and chalk strategies to increase penetration in India through innovative
marketing programs, value-added selling propositions, end-to-end solutions
offerings and logistics support. Apple has already launched a very aggressive
channel expansion, development and support activities. "We expect a 400
percent growth from sales of Apple products this year considering the aggressive
approach," adds Leslie.
Ansata has branch offices in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and
Hyderabad. It has around 50 dealers in major locations across the country. IT
also has a Web-based ordering system for its exclusive channel network.
