Asus’ 104 DVD-R/RW drive

ASUTek Computer Inc launched its optical storage drive, the DVR-104. The DVR
supports 2X DVD-write/1X DVD-ReWrite/6X DVD-ROM/8X CD-Write/4X CD-ReWrite/24X
CD-ROM. It can prevent buffer under-run problems, thereby eliminating the
creation of CD and DVD coasters.

Besides supporting 2X DVD-R write speed (roughly equivalent to 18X CD-R), the
DVR-104 is capable of high-speed CD-R writing at 8X and CD-RW at 4X, as well as
read speed up to 6X for DVD (single layer) and 24X for CD-R/RW discs and
CD-audio extraction. DVD-R/RW media written by the DVR-104 is compatible with
most of the existing DVDplayers and DVD-ROM drives, offering users a high degree
of flexibility.

The design includes a cooling fan and two disc clips which prevent
overheating of the operating environment within the drive and disc fallouts due
to vertical installation or unintentional tray-out.
