Asus has launched the CT-479 CPU adaptor that enables users to run a notebook processor on a desktop computer. The upgrade kit brings the Intel Pentium M Socket 479 notebook processor onto Socket 478 desktop motherboards.
The CPU upgrade kit incorporates the Socket 479 directly onto the motherboards. Asus motherboards combined with the CT-479 offer flexibility, allowing users to support both the 478 and 479 processors, including the latest 533 MHz FSB Dothan platforms, on one single motherboard.
The CT-479 further provides front-side-bus (FSB) jumpers for CPU support flexibility. Depending on the purchased CPU, users can select bus frequency of 533MHz or 400MHz. It bundles a quiet cooling fan made specifically for the Pentium M processor. The solution offers four DIMM slots, maximum 4GB memory support, dual-channel DDR 400 architecture and AGP 8x graphics standard.
Currently, the CT-479 supports the Asus P4P800 SE and P4P800-VM motherboards and Intel Pentium M processor series. The Intel Pentium M processors that can be used are the Dothan 1.5GHz to 2.26+ GHz, Banias 1.3GHz to 1.7+ GHz, Celeron M 1.2GHz to 1.7+ GHz. Intel's Pentium M processor Low Voltage and Ultra Low are not supported by this product.
