Avance launches Spire that lets 386 systems run Windows 2000

Avance Technologies, a division of VMC software, unveiled Avance Spire - an

add on card for old computers using 386 processor or above, to run latest

operating system on a networked environment.

"The card uses embedded technology to address the global concern of

recurring expenses for upgradation and replacement of the old computers to run

higher-end software applications and operating systems," says Srikrishna B,

Director, Avance Technologies.

With the addition of Avance Spire card to the computers, organizations will

have the freedom to run latest operating systems like MS WIN 2000 Pro/MS WIN

XP/Linux on their existing networked computers be it 7-10 years old

386/486/Pentium computers at a fraction of cost of a new computer.

The product is priced at Rs 6,000 and will be made available at lower costs

for bulk purchase. In three months time, the company is also looking at

appointing distributors and resellers to sell this product.
