Bakbone Software, a California-based storage management solutions provider,
has announced its plans to begin operations in India. According to the company,
Bakbone will open its first sales office in Mumbai by February this year.
Currently, Bakbone´s back-up and recovery software has been selling in the
Indian market for the last one decade through its distribution partners. The
company also has plans to open an Indian subsidiary subsequently, depending upon
the market trends.
Howard Weiss, MD Asia Pacific, Bakbone Software says, "India is an
important market for Bakbone next to China and our first move towards our
expansion plan will be the direct marketing presence, which would be launched
shortly." According to him, Bakbone has opened around six sales offices in
China and contributes major share in its APAC revenue. Howard plans to replicate
the same performance in the Indian market during the next three years.
Howard also revealed company’s plans to appoint channel partners and
present them with different business opportunities available in the storage
space. The company plans to add six solutions providers and 25 value added
resellers to its channel network by mid of this year. Currently, Bakbone
operates through CMS Technology, SAMAK Technology and Mantek (Apex Computers) in
India.
