Canon targets enterprise segment with new MFD

Canon India launched its 32 pages per minute (ppm) multi-function device (MFD) -- the C3200 -- in a bid to make its mark in the color printing market. With this device, color printing on an A4-size paper will cost only Rs 5 as compared to a laser print, which costs Rs 20.

The MFD can also copy, print, scan and e-mail and enables users to convert color hard copy originals into digital files and transmit them as e-mails. Being a scalable product, Canon will be pitching it into the enterprise segment and a complete solution will cost between Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15
lakh.

Lakshmi Narayan Rao, Business Assistant Director, Canon OSS foresees significant market opportunities in color reproduction and feels that these MFDs will grow at an approximate CAGR of 50%. Says he, "With low prices and technology that matches-up the speeds of mono-chrome printouts, color MFDs will see an accelerated pace of growth."

Lakshmi also reveals that the new device have been provided with additional features to address security concerns.
