Initial Days

When Wadhwa stepped into business, there was a vision to achieve a lot in a much less span of time. But as it is, there were tons of roadblocks and lot of things to learn. “There were many challenges in my life, which I learnt to handle as I moved on,” says Wadhwa.

Getting into Entrepreneurship

“There was so much happening around me at that time and there was an urge to do something of my own. It wont be wrong saying me that I was bitten by the entrepreneurial bug. The opportunity was there and we started Champion Computers with the assembly of computer and technical support for our clients. The most important thing we learned during that time, which is still part of our DNA, was to keep the client satisfied to the best of our ability,” said Wadhwa.

Wadhwa started his career with a ‘Computer Training Institute’, later specialized into computer hardware distribution and manufacturing of desktops and laptop Pcs, which today is converged into tablet and smart phones.

Champion is an ISO 9001:2008 and 14001 certified company and has emerged as a major constituent of the Indian IT and Communications Industry, selling a wide range of products under the brand name of ‘Champion’. Headquartered in New Delhi, the brand enjoys a strong brand salience among channel partners across the country through its strong nationwide distribution network.

Recently, the company has entered into a strategic alliance with Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL), the oldest and largest communications service provider in INDIA to cater to the ever-growing ICT needs of today’s tech-savvy consumer.

Over two and a half decade, Wadhwa has been able to steer Champion brand to a level where it is recognized well in the IT market. This is the most significant professional achievement for Wadhwa.

Challenges of Entrepreneurship

“Being a first generation entrepreneur was itself a big challenge. The other challenges which came in between my way, included identifying the right source for the products we wanted to market, at the right price without compromising the quality. As the company moved on, the other challenge was in the form of adopting to the ever changing technological scenario wherein we started talking about convergence which put us into a very challenging situation. During the same time we were bogged down with HR issues like finding the right people for taking our business forward,” shared Wadhwa when asked about the diffficulties and challenges he faced in his career and entrepreneurship. But Wadhwa never looked at these challenges as roadblocks and this approach really helped him in dealing and coping with bad situations.

Success Mantra: Work Smart and Hard

Wadhwa’s mantra for life and success has been very straight forward, always be close to the ground realities and work harder and smarter. In simple words ‘hard work and smart work’ is the right success mantra for Wadhwa.

“Don’t give up. Every challenge that comes across will make you smarter and more confident, provided you follow the rule of staying close to the ground realities and working harder and smarter,” are few advices given by Wadhwa to the young entrepreneurs.

Personal life

For Wadhwa, meeting people and making friends remains one of his hobbies. Wadhwa says, “This thing not just opens up new business opportunities but also enables me to know about different kind of people and also helps in making new friends.” He loves spending time with his friends and family.

Road Ahead

When asked about personal and professional future plans, Wadhwa said, “My vision is very clear that of targeting our customer with a reasonably priced, but qualitative products. Our Tag Line also says “Technology Beyond Imagination” and Price within Reach.

On personal front, there is a regular growth of my thought process as I keep on meeting people, keep on listening to their thought process and adopting new ideas in my life and business.
