The retirement of Charles Wang, founder of Computer Associates, has created no ripples in the organization. "It has been a smooth transition," says
Rajiv Singh, MD, India & SAARC. In an exclusive interview with DQ Channels India, Rajiv says that it is
"business as usual'' and CA would continue to work on the vision provided to it by Charles during his 26 years in the company which he established with
three associates in New York. "Charles' contribution has been huge, it's immense," exudes Rajiv. Sanjay
Kumar, who has served CA as President and CEO since August 2000, is replacing Charles who has been named to the honorary position of Chairman
Emiritus.
Speaking on CA's channel focus, Rajiv says that large systems integrators are key to CA's enterprise business. ''CA has unique enterprise products
that need the skill-sets and experience of large SIs," says Rajiv. CA values the relationships that the SIs have built up over the years. It
wants to complement the efforts of the SIs in providing enterprise-wide solutions to users with its technology-driven products.
Rajiv believes that SIs can benefit by joining hands with CA because its products have the capability to seamlessly integrate in any environment.
These products can also work on any platform with any software. "The SIs are an extended arm of CA India," says Rajiv, "from day one, the
company has been working to develop these relationships." He says that CA will continue to upgrade the skills of SIs around its
products which are being used by the who's who among enterprises including
Infosys, HDFC Bank, L&T, ICICI, among others.
