Owned by Sumedha Group of companies, Sumedha Fiscal (SFSL), a merchant
banker company has eight other branches across the country, and is in engaged in
SEBI certified trading of shares, stock broking and mutual funds. Also, the
company is an MCE registered commodity broking enterprise.
Offering in services in the fiscal sector, it requires a well-knit IT system,
whereas the branches across the country are kept tight ensuring proper
coordination between the employees across the different fiscal sectors. Offering
corporate and distribution service on the equity trading front, the company is
heavily engaged in Internet share trading and commodity broking.
Current IT infrastructure
As compliance to SEBI and MCE, guidelines are compulsory for any listed
fiscal firm-but the case is special with SFSL where six dedicated servers are
always kept running catering to six different environments.

Having 30 dedicated workÂstations along with 20 computer variants, the LAN
operates on parallel network configuration. Also, there is a CTCL server
installed for the workgroup domain and a back-office server catering to the same
domain relating it to the host network.
Valued at Rs 50 lakh (2007-08), the entire set is made on the model of the
'Dual Check Connection' in the delimiting zone with Juniper firewall filtering
web content. Broadly, the network is divided into two parts-the stock broking
network with limited access and the Internet trading network with administrator
rights.
For security reasons and to prevent data leakages using original licenses
across domains, the LAN is always kept segregated from the main server.
To boost up prevention of data leakages in accordance to AAC rules, Cyberoam
UTM security solutions have been installed providing bandwidth management and
access control apart from the conventional types of network security.
IT infrastructure for 2009
Realizing the volatility of the stock broking market and requirements in the
NSE, the company is keen on implemenÂting the TAP configuration prescribed by
NSE to keep it's operations at par with the dynamic stock exchange. The company
is also on the move for expanding its data backup and storage capacities with
the latest offering from HP. Also, the company will soon be expanding the
back-drive capacity.
Current system suppliers
Presently, SFSL has ODC as it's system supplier and network solution
provider, and Lotte Computers for servicing for HP and Dell including most of
the hardware.
Desired qualities in a supplier
In the first place, SFSL looks for the product variety and quality of the IT
merchandise. Special care is given on the packaging front, checking all the
specifications and licensing terms before the final purchase decision is made.
Relying on information over the Internet, the company always looks for
competitive price advantage when selecting its products and the combination.
Also, the company takes into account the support system the supplier has.
