Of these eight servers, four are Linux-based, which are used for
functionalities like system administration and management of IT. The remainder
is based on Microsoft. AVL Software also has 110 desktops at various locations.

Value of existing IT infrastructure in the company

It is very difficult to provide a number to the existing infrastructure for
the company, as it keeps on changing and is also dependent on the IT policy that
we embrace.

Virendra Vishnu

Manager- Corporate IT

The overall cost of this infrastructure would be Rs 30 lakh to Rs 35 lakh. So
if we look at the overall information technology infrastructure for the company,
it would be in the range of Rs 2 crore.

Proposed IT infrastructure for 2005-06 according to your assessment

We have a central IT policy in the organization. We have taken a decision to
migrate our existing infrastructure from the earlier version of Windows server
to the latest Windows 2003 server. We have made the business proposal for this
and the process for getting the final approval for this has already begun.

Expected budget for above

Since we are in the process of getting a final approval for our proposed
upgradation to the Windows 2003, we don't have any concrete figures for this.
However, the budget would be done keeping in mind the current needs of the
organization.

Qualifications of supplier

Having the right IT solution partner is very important to an organization
like ours. Before signing a particular supplier we look at areas like his
overall trustworthiness and the kind of service or support he is likely to
deliver. Additionally, the supplier should remain cost-effective in all aspects
like service, getting the product at the right price and installing it. We
consider our supplier as an extended arm for our organization.
