Cisco Systems India has announced its go-to market strategy to tap the fast growing sectors of auto component manufacturing, pharma and garments in India. According to Suprabhat
Chatterjee, India and SAARC National Business Development Manager, Cisco Systems, the company had drawn up plans to tap into the small and medium businesses
(SMBs). He added that the company was looking at tailor-made solutions that suit the business needs of verticals including auto component manufacturing, pharma and garments, thus customizing their approach in every market.
Since Pune is a growing auto hub, Cisco is organizing a three-city auto seminar in July that will start from the city and move onto Chennai and Delhi. The seminars will address issues faced by the automotive sector and opportunities. It is also starting another program - Cisco SMB Support Assistant - a technical service, offering providing access to Cisco technical experts and advanced hardware replacement and operating system software maintenance.
The vendor had recently launched an SMB campaign to address the growing small business IT spending in the country. Access Markets International (AMI) Partners estimates there are an estimated 7.4 million
SMBs. Estimates are that 29% have PCs, 20% have Internet access and 13% have local area networks.
Only 16% of all Indian PC owning small businesses have some form of high speed Internet access. This is in sharp contrast to countries such as Korea and China, which enjoy 92% and 46% broadband penetration respectively.
