Cisco introduces Unified Workspace Licensing

Chennai: Cisco has come out with a new model of licensing program for the
users called Unified Workspace Licensing, through which an organization can
procure a broad range of Cisco Unified Communications applications and services
on a per-user basis. Unified Workspace Licensing is available to all
organizations through all certified Cisco partners. Cisco would provide a
minimum quantity of 250 licenses for all new Unified Workspace Licensing orders.

According to Minhaj Zia, National Sales Manager, Unified Communications,
Cisco India & SAARC: “Unified Workspace Licensing is a new, easy, and
affordable program for procurement of a broad range of Cisco's Unified
Communications applications and services that help organizations maximize the
potential of unified communications. It facilitates successful deployment of
multiple applications to all users in their workspaces besides providing
licensing, service and support, and software subscription. The program
streamlines pricing, licensing, and deployment of Cisco Unified Communications
solutions and enables organizations to implement a media-rich unified
communications experience at a cost-effective, per-user basis.”

Asserting the Unified Workspace Licensing is an inclusive one, he said, the
program would cover all client and server software licensing, service and
support, and software subscriptions.

The unified licensing model is available in two versions namely standard and
professional editions. The Standard Edition includes a per-user license for any
model of Cisco IP phone; a Cisco Unity or Cisco Unity Connection voice mailbox;
a Cisco Unified Presence server; a Cisco Unified Mobility application, and a
Unified Communications client. The Professional Edition includes everything in
Standard Edition. In addition to that, support for an unlimited number of Cisco
IP phones per user is also provided. Additionally, the licensing model would
contain a Cisco Unity unified messaging mailbox per user; one Cisco Unified
Mobile Communicator per user and a Cisco Unified MeetingPlace or Unified
MeetingPlace Express audio, video, and Web conferencing.

The hardware requirement for the Licensing Model has to be managed separately
and it would not be provided as a package. However the service and software
subscription could be availed along with the licensing model.
