Announcing this at a press briefing, Shankarlinge Gowda, Karnataka's IT secretary, said that the company would pump in $750 million into its new R&D campus in Bangalore and around $50 million in the center's infrastructure.
This investment is part of the $1.1 billion investment package announced by John Chambers, Cisco's head honcho recently. The company plans to triple its existing head count from the current 1400 by 2008. John also said that the company is also considering India as a manufacturing base.
